Young Entrepreneurs of the World – Unite!

Today’s New York Times features an article about young (granted, much younger than me) entrepreneurs.

There’s a special place in my heart for these innovators as I started my own business at the tender age of 13.

My parents were graphic designers who worked out of our home. Some of their clients were firms that had many different offices throughout the country.

With my brother, we started a business that focused on taking the expensive pre-printed color brochures and “overprinting” the local address with a bubblejet printer. We’d fold (always hated that part – there’s a funny story about a fight with the folding machine, but that’s another story) package, and ship the customized prints to the order that came in, saving the clients money on customized costs at the big printers.

Today, I’m so glad that I learned the skills of being an entrepreneur so young.
