About Andrea

Hi You!

I’m so glad you’re here. You’re what makes this all worth it (otherwise, I’d be posting just to hear myself type).

First of all, let’s establish what I’m not. I’m not your traditional copywriter. My degree is not in English, History, or Journalism. Nope. After earning my degree in Marketing I began a (successful) career in B2B sales where I learned first-hand prospect psychology. And it’s this field experience that sets my writing apart.

You see, we had traditional “marketing” materials that included generic three-ring sales presentation binders, bland tri-fold brochures, and countless fliers with all the pie-charts and graphs your little heart could want.

The problem was – as soon as I walked out the door the beautiful (and I’m guessing pretty expensive) packet I had meticulously prepared usually ended up in the circular file. “What a waste of money,” I thought to myself. “There has to be a better way.”

So to boost my sales, I took initiative in the form of personalized sales letters, direct-mail campaigns and e-mail blasts (among other things). And it worked. Why? Because I connected with the client (even if it was an automated campaign).

I refused to use generic phrases like “we offer outstanding customer service.” I opted instead for an honest, open, not-too-salesy approach that heightened my credibility and had clients calling me. For example, after a week vacationing I returned to an awed co-worker (who had worked on my accounts while I was away) saying, “You closed more deals on vacation than I did all month! How did you do it?”

Over time I became burnt-out from the 90-hour work weeks, uncomfortable clothes, and endless travel. I searched my soul and said “what do I really love to do?”

Thus, I ventured out on a mission to rid the world of corporate babble one concise sentence at a time. Through my experience I’ve discovered that most people are yearning for a voice that is natural and authentic. And it’s this authenticity that has earned me a reputation of results-oriented copy that provides perfect balance of personality and professionalism.

So here I am – happy to be writing. Thrilled to do what I love. And this blog is a snippet of what goes on in my mind. I’m always open for questions or suggestions for content, so please feel welcome to contact me with your ideas at andreagouletblog at gmail dot com. Thanks for reading and happy marketing!

To your success,

Andrea :)

  2. Hi Nitinrohidas,

When talking to financing folks (be it a bank, private investor, etc.) they want proof. The more descriptive you can be with your idea, target market, predictions the better. You may want to check out Guy Kawasaki’s book Rules For Revolutionaries.

  5. Hi Andrea,
As you’re into the whole ‘writing’ thing, thought you might be interested in crossing to a neat promotion for a big Financial newspaper down here in Australia.

Rehashing the old ‘write our slogan’ idea, the online techs and mechs behind this new version let you see your campaign ideas come to life b4 your eyes. While you’re checking this, check my blog too; I’m in the writing and PR game too.
